Chapra Chingri (often referred to as small freshwater/estuarine river shrimp or glass shrimp, primarily from Macrobrachium or Palaemon species) is a tiny, delicate variety of shrimp widely popular in Bengali daily cooking.

Appearance: Very small, slender, and almost translucent or pale greyish-pink when raw, turning a light orange-pink when cooked.

Flavor & Texture: Naturally sweet, tender, and subtle with a mild seafood aroma. Because they are tiny, they are usually cooked whole with their soft, paper-thin shells intact, which add a pleasant, delicate crunch.
